AI patent granted: FactoryPal secures intellectual property for optimized machine configuration in manufacturing

Patent approval in the US strengthens FactoryPal’s position as a provider in AI-driven production optimization.

Berlin, Germany – July 15th, 2025 —FactoryPal, a joint venture by Valmet and Körber – fully consolidated to Valmet, has received a patent approval from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for its proprietary method of automatically determining optimized process configurations in manufacturing.

The newly granted patent protects FactoryPal’s innovative approach to optimizing machine settings using artificial intelligence and real-time data. This milestone reinforces FactoryPal’s commitment to driving operational excellence through advanced technology and further secures its position as a leading provider of AI-driven manufacturing software.

At the core of the patent is a system that analyzes historical machine configurations, live sensor data, and production outcomes to simulate and determine the most effective process setup. Through an ensemble of machine learning models and algorithms, FactoryPal identifies and delivers the optimal configuration to improve efficiency, reduce variability, and increase product quality.

The patent covers a range of manufacturing scenarios and supports dynamic adjustments during ongoing production. It applies across diverse industries, including paper, steel, food, textiles, and pharmaceuticals—where efficiency, uptime, and adaptability are critical to success.

"This patent is more than a technical achievement — it’s a validation of our mission to empower shop floor teams with intelligent tools that make manufacturing smarter and more resilient,” says Dr. Andreas Schilling, CTO at FactoryPal. “We’re proud to secure this patent protection for a method that’s already driving impact across production lines in Europe and the Americas."

The patent aligns with FactoryPal’s broader ambition to help manufacturers optimize production operations in the face of mounting industry challenges, including rising complexity and labor shortages. With a modular, machine-agnostic design, FactoryPal’s application serves as a flexible AI co-pilot for shop floor teams, regardless of production type or equipment vendor.

This development also strengthens FactoryPal’s position as part of its long-term vision to lead innovation in the Industry 4.0 and IIoT space. The company will continue to expand the technical capabilities and geographic reach of its solution in close collaboration with leading manufacturers.
